The Lower Cape Fear Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution and the Stamp Defiance Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Wilmington District Resolves that specifically identified the grievances the constituents of the counties of New Hanover, Onslow, Duplin, Brunswick and Bladen had with the taxes and other requirements levied on the colonists in the eastern part of the North Carolina province during the late 1700s. These grievances eventually led to the North Carolina province becoming the first province to recommend a declaration of independence in writing to their delegates to the provincial Congress in 1776. Join us at the Burgwin-Wright House on June 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of this significant historical event.
