Tim Barnsback

Tim Barnsback teaches 11th-grade personal finance and 12th-grade civics at Burke Middle College in Morganton. With over 25 years in the classroom, he is still driven by the belief that education should be immediately impactful and deeply connected to students’ lives. In 2024, he was honored as BMC’s Teacher of the Year and continues to serve as a Master Teacher and Regional Board Member with the North Carolina Council on Economic Education. His classroom will soon be featured in a summer segment spotlighting on NPR’s Marketplace. Tim is especially passionate about using financial literacy and community service as tools to break cycles of generational poverty and help revive rural communities.

Tim is fascinated by America’s founding, inspired by the excitement surrounding the nation’s 200th birthday. He’s honored to be part of helping inspire a new generation of patriots who are engaged, thoughtful, and committed to building a “more perfect union.”
