
Michael Llaury
Michael Llaury teaches history at Smithfield-Selma High School in Johnston County Schools. He passionately delivers American history lessons that transform historical events into living experiences for his students while guiding them to understand their role within the national story. Michael has dedicated his teaching career to culturally responsive teaching methods while establishing inclusive classroom environments that allow students to feel recognized and challenged to think critically.
Michael is proud to become an America 250 NC Teacher Fellow and is excited to be part of an educational network dedicated to teaching students about the nation's history in meaningful ways. Michael feels a deep excitement about the chance to delve into topics of civic engagement, democracy, and identity, and plans to use this experience to enhance classroom instruction, discussions, and projects.
