First in Freedom Festival

From February 21 to 28, 2026, experience the inaugural North Carolina First in Freedom Festival, a weeklong celebration of 250+ years of America’s story through the lens of North Carolina’s pivotal role in shaping freedom and democracy. Explore history brought to life with engaging events, interactive exhibits, and performances that highlight our state’s rich heritage and vibrant arts community.

Moores Creek National Battlefield will mark its 250th anniversary Feb. 26–28 with education programs, battle commemorations, and live music. Highlights include colonial demonstrations, wreath-laying ceremonies, and performances by the Marine Corps Band and more.
