Bringing History to Life — Across State Lines! In the 1700s, the Waxhaws region stretched across both Carolinas, encompassing what is now Union County, NC, and Lancaster County, SC. During the American Revolution, this area was a major battleground — with over 200 battles and skirmishes fought in the Carolinas, especially from 1780–1781 when the British shifted their focus south.Last year, history was made when the Museum of the Waxhaws hosted Union County’s first-ever Revolutionary War reenactment during the Battle of the Waxhaws Reenactment Weekend.
