Voices of North Carolina: Chris

Chris McKeehan, Loudon County (Tennessee)

How has North Carolina shaped your own story?"

"I love seeing the Carolina Panthers, and I enjoy going to football games and cheering at high school games too—maybe!

I love Asheville, Bryson City, Cherokee, Maggie Valley, and Sylva. I also love college schools, especially colleges in North Carolina.

I enjoy watching North Carolina games and cheering for the University of North Carolina. It would be wonderful to see a new game in Raleigh or Chapel Hill.

If I go, I’ll really enjoy the game!"

Tell us something about your town, city, or community.

"I know I’m leaving Lenoir City and moving on. See you soon!

I’ll be 59 in March. I love playing basketball and working on improving my job skills, social skills, and finding new career opportunities. I’m hoping for a wonderful job!

I love North Carolina—it’s better than Tennessee and anywhere else I’ve been. I want to be near the University of North Carolina, in places like Raleigh, Chapel Hill, or Wake Forest."

Tell us about someone who made or makes North Carolina what it is—in a positive way.

"Well, I know I’d love to move to Charlotte or Concord. I enjoy seeing people and love the good energy in Asheville too. I’m all about connecting with people, creating opportunities, and finding good jobs.

I’m only 58 years old now—turning 59 next year. I love North Carolina!

I look forward to meeting new people. I know a bunch of folks—people from different generations, friends, and kind-hearted people."
