Race to the Dan Preservation Project

The Race to the Dan, fought in early 1781, was a pivotal Revolutionary War campaign between American Major General Nathanael Greene and British Lieutenant General Charles
Cornwallis. This campaign across the North Carolina Piedmont ultimately led to Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown later that year, marking a turning point in the American Revolution.
